There was this Kid named Jacob at Lake Vista Play Camp growing up.

He was a bit interesting, so he stuck out. The funniest memory was on a particularly boring day me, Jacob, my older brother Treveon and a bunch of other kids sat in a circle talking about which super heroes would win in a fight. Jacob declared that he was the best super hero to a group of 11 year olds so hilarity ensued.

“What about Spiderman, he swings down and rip those scrawny arms off and beat you with them”?

Jacob said “ Nope he’d miss me”

We thought this was a horrible answer but okay maybe we just needed faster heroes.

“ What about Superman?”

“ Miss me, Matrix!” As he simulates Neos famous bullet dodging scene.

Okay this is ridiculous but I’ll bite.

Flash? Missed

Goku? Missed

Okay maybe we need a power up, SS4 Goku? Nope miss.

Jesus Christ? Nope Super miss.

I’m not sure how long we did this ( all Summer it felt like ) but what’s time to an 11 year old?

The kids answer never changed no matter how ridiculous the scenario.

One day we were all playing basketball (very badly, games always took like 45 minutes to score 21 points because we kept missing), and Jacob walked across the court and someone missed and the ball hit him in the back. We all bust out laughing, I guess the ball was just too fast. Anyway I see some of the same people who used Jacobs name as a shorthand for bad logic doing the same thing recently.

All the people who think they can dodge a virus. Lots of weird arguing about not needing a vaccine because they can dodge it — they’ve dodged it for a year(That’s the logic that’s caused STD’s to rise this year as well), they’ve survived an encounter with the virus (so far), they outlasted everything else in life ( duh if they hadn’t they’d be dead).

Don’t be Jacob, get the vaccine. You won’t be able to dodge an ever mutating virus forever.

Also advocate for the rest of the world to be vaccinated too.

Jacob was a fine human whom I have not kept in contact with he just made bad arguments about how he would survive Galactus eating the planet he was standing on. Like how you gonna dodge that Jacob?!

I’ve been giving a lot of side eye to people who I’ve watched Horror films with who were like yeah I would have done this this and this and escaped.

Or who read the Hunger Games and were like yeah I would volunteer, win, and volunteer again.

Who criticized every minutia of a made up scene in a Science fiction show not even an issue for them.

I guess this Virus is their Kryptonite
