I endorse Bernard Sanders to be president of the United States in 2021.
Not that it matters, and I’m not as excited about his candidacy as I was last year.
Bernie’s going to lose, for the same reason that he lost in 2016.
He just does not get America.
Yes we need change, he is calling for change.
Yes we need progressive policies, with a major caveat on guns, that is what he is calling for.
Yes we need rapid, urgent, sprint not marathon paced act on on climate change.
But for the second time in 4 years Bernie was…
Chapter Two: The Finger of God
When reports trickled in about a storm forming off the coast of Cuba, we ignored it.
In some ways can you blame us? We were numb to the changing climate and it had already been a tough year.
There had already been Forest fires on the west coast -giant beasts eating chunks of land out of California, Oregon, and Washington.
There had already been a hurricane in Iowa, the first recorded landfall hurricane in the state’s history.
A record shattering earthquake in Colorado didn’t even make the front page.
So when the…
Infinities — Chapter Three: The battle of bells and blazes
300,000 American’s had died from Covid, at least those are the numbers they were saying on the news.
The U.S. president did little to combat this virus so we shouldn’t have been surprised when they declined to commemorate this terrible event.
In fact the only acknowledgement that there was even a pandemic was a Tweet poking fun of people wearing masks in public.
The Pope showed up at a memorial event in what remained of New York wearing a mask. He criticized the U.S. …
He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
“ Good morning, a summary of the agreed upon rules. We will have three hours of debate evenly divided starting with myself, I’ll control time on the Republican side.
Minority leader Rep. Pelosi will control the time on the Democrat side.
We will break at noon for lunch and hope to have a vote on this process by tomorrow. As a reminder you have to be on the floor in order to vote on this amendment.
For the record please speak clearly…
Chapter one: Prelude to madness
The year was 2020.
Millions of people had already been infected with a new strain of the virus.
We were shut away in our homes trying to make it to that magical first Tuesday of November.
We risked our lives all summer marching in the streets trying to change the country, striving for racial justice. Each time we inhaled we risked being afflicted with the virus. We marched, we sung, we cried in the streets for Jubilation and Justice.
But that ended when the president sent tanks to Portland. We had questions before then of…
There was this Kid named Jacob at Lake Vista Play Camp growing up.
He was a bit interesting, so he stuck out. The funniest memory was on a particularly boring day me, Jacob, my older brother Treveon and a bunch of other kids sat in a circle talking about which super heroes would win in a fight. Jacob declared that he was the best super hero to a group of 11 year olds so hilarity ensued.
“What about Spiderman, he swings down and rip those scrawny arms off and beat you with them”?
Jacob said “ Nope he’d miss me”
You ran a campaign promising to restore FL's ecosystem.
Instead you have stood by as the devastation to our environment has cost us a loss of life, tourism, fishing, and leisure. No one is going to want to visit FL without beaches.
Without beaches FL is a swamp without affordable housing, a poor social safety net, police departments with lower clearance rates than our similarly populated peers- CA, TX, NY.
How many people do you think will be unable to work because there's no fish to sell?
How many boat captains will have to stay docked for months?
What will get hacked next ?
So SOMEONE keeps attacking U.S. interests via cyber attacks.
No one knows which bare chested bear riding resident of the Kremlin it is behind these attacks. Nor do we know what the U.S. has done in response.
It’s a bit humorous from the 1000 foot view seeing Beef and Oil industries be attacked- two industries that make up the American caricature.
It’s been interesting to see people realize how unreliable fossil fuels are while sharing memes about solar panels not working in the dark. Or how much beef we buy from Brazil while increasing…
Somehow these last 365 days have lasted 10,000 years. This year has felt even longer for those
It has not been long enough, however, for Florida’s politicians to release their Housing plans- you know the most basic requirement on Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs?
Marco Rubio is a self proclaimed economic populist but he has not managed to even misquote a bible verse in response to thousands of his constituents being threatened with homelessness. Senator Rubio could work to improve housing programs for military families. Homes that will not poison them perhaps? …
The senate… is dumb.
Not the members, but the institution. It was designed as an elite body to keep the masses in check.
That is not what we need for this time.
We need an organization that moves quicker and with less institutionalized racism, a body that doesn’t block progress in the name of maintaining norms no one believes in.
So a few fixes:
